Sprout Original: The Sunny Side Up Show
Overview
Each weekday morning, The Sunny Side Up Show greets
preschoolers and their families as they rise and shine and prepare for the day ahead.
In this live broadcast, hosts Kevin, Kelly and Sean alternate weeks and create a
warm and welcoming environment where families can gather to share their local weather,
birthdays, and even show and tell with Sprout®. SproutOnline.com provides viewers
at home a forum to interact with the live broadcast by submitting emails, contest
entries and artwork. Each week, the show explores a new theme, such as manners,
pets, gardening or colors. Favorite Sprout characters like Elmo and Barney stop
by the Sprout Sunshine Barn from time to time, as well as other special guests,
such as a pet shop owner, librarian or firefighter. Sidekick Chica, a playful chicken
puppet, injects humor and fun into the show with her surprise eggs that are cracked
open for clues, games and jokes. The show also includes segments from Sprout’s trusted
program library, including Thomas & Friends™,
Bob the Builder™, Play With
Me Sesame® and The Berenstain Bears®.
Program Goals
The Sunny Side Up Show balances playful, spontaneous
fun with interactive learning and creates a welcoming environment for preschoolers
and their parents to spend some morning time together. In addition to introducing
children to educational concepts through weekly themes, the concepts of calendars,
day of the week and weather are reinforced on a daily basis. Through birthday card
submissions and other interactive activities, creativity and craft skills are exercised.
