Philadelphia, PA - April 24, 2008 - PBS KIDS Sprout, the first
24-hour preschool destination available on TV, on demand and online
for kids ages 2-5 and their parents and caregivers, is celebrating
Mother's Day with two special live blocks hosted by Nina from The
Good Night Show from noon to 3:00 p.m ET on both Saturday, May 10
and Sunday, May 11.
Joining Nina in the Sunshine Barn will be Chica the Chicken from
The Sunny Side Up Show and her sidekick puppet Star (appearing on
Sunday's show only). The trio will share special wishes for
mom, showcase viewer-submitted Mother's Day cards, make crafts and
introduce mom-themed episodes of Sprout viewer favorites such as
Berenstain Bears®, Angelina Ballerina™ and Pingu™.
On Sunday, preschoolers from across the country will be calling
in live to tell Nina, Star and Chica why they love their
moms. Additionally, Sprout will be airing live-action video
featuring real moms talking about motherhood throughout the
weekend.
"Sprout is the only network that actually shares back with its
viewers," said Andrew Beecham, senior vice president of programming
at Sprout. "Whether it's wishing mom a Happy Mother's Day
live on the air, sharing a homemade video for our new Sprout
Sharing Show or submitting a hand-crafted birthday card to be shown
on our live morning show, Sprout is truly a network made 'for you,
by you.'"
Prior to Mother's Day weekend, preschoolers and their parents
can visit SproutOnline.com to send mom-themed messages which will
be featured in a continuous on-air scroll throughout the entire
weekend.
