Supplies for Little Red Riding Hood

  • 1 white paper bag, turned inside out
  • 1 cardboard tube (from roll of paper towels)
  • Ribbon
  • Scrap paper or newspaper (for scrunching up to put inside the paper bag)
  • 1 large piece of red tissue paper or crepe paper (or wrapping paper)
  • 1 piece brown construction paper, cut in a circle
  • 2 googly eyes
  • Felt-tip pens or markers
  • Tape
  • Glue

Supplies for Grandma

  • 1 white paper bag, turned inside out
  • 1 cardboard tube (from roll of paper towels)
  • Ribbon
  • Scrap paper or newspaper (for scrunching up to put inside the paper bag)
  • 1 large piece of blue tissue paper or crepe paper (or wrapping paper)
  • 2 matching caps from soda or other bottles
  • 4 silver or grey present bows
  • 1 paper cupcake liner
  • Felt-tip pens or markers
  • Tape
  • Glue

Supplies for The Big Bad Wolf

  • 1 white paper bag, turned inside out
  • 1 cardboard tube (from roll of paper towels)
  • Scrap paper or newspaper (for scrunching up to put inside the paper bag)
  • 2 paper cupcake cases
  • Cotton balls
  • Cardboard triangular opening from a Ziploc box or equivalent (or cut out a triangular shape from cardboard)
  • Pumpkin seeds, washed and dry
  • Felt-tip pens or markers
  • Tape
  • Glue

Instructions: 
  1. Turn paper bag inside out. Start by scrunching up the bottom end and then pushing it inside the bag to carefully turn it inside out. Flatten the bag once inside out to make it easy to draw on.
  2. Cut the brown paper circle in half and glue the two halves onto your paper bag as "hair."
  3. Glue on two googly eyes.
  4. Draw on a nose and smiley mouth.
  5. Stuff the bag with scrunched up scrap paper/newspaper.
  6. Push the cardboard tube halfway up the bag and use tape to secure the paper bag to the tube.
  7. Lay out a red sheet of tissue paper and place the puppet in the middle of the paper. Wrap the tissue paper around Little Red Riding Hood's face to make a hood and gather it together around the cardboard tube. Secure in place with tape.
  8. Tie a ribbon around the neck of your puppet.

To Make Grandma:

  1. Turn paper bag inside out. Start by scrunching up the bottom end and then pushing it inside the bag to carefully turn it inside out. Flatten the bag once inside out to make it easy to draw on.
  2. Glue on the present bows to look like curly grey hair.
  3. Glue on 2 caps to make Grandma's glasses.
  4. Draw on a mouth and a nose and the arms of the glasses.
  5. Stuff the bag with scrunched up scrap paper/newspaper.
  6. Push the cardboard tube halfway up the bag and use tape to secure the paper bag to the tube.
  7. Lay out a sheet of blue tissue paper and place the puppet at the top of the paper. Wrap the tissue paper around Grandma to make a dress and gather it together around the cardboard tube. Secure in place with tape.
  8. Tie a ribbon around the neck of your puppet.
  9. Glue a cupcake paper onto the top of your puppet's "hair" to serve as a Grandma's hat.

To make The Big Bad Wolf:

  1. Turn paper bag inside out. Start by scrunching up the bottom end and then pushing it inside the bag to carefully turn it inside out. Flatten the bag once inside out to make it easy to draw on.
  2. Glue on the triangular cardboard and color the end brown to look like the wolf's nose.
  3. Fold 2 cup cake cases into quarters and color brown. Glue a cotton ball to the pointy end of each one.
  4. Glue the "ears" onto your bag at the top.
  5. Draw two wolf eyes.
  6. Glue some cotton balls onto the bottom of the bag to resemble fur.
  7. Glue lots of pumpkin seeds along the triangular cardboard for the wolf's sharp teeth.
  8. Stuff the bag with scrunched up scrap paper/newspaper.
  9. Push the cardboard tube halfway up the bag and use tape to secure the paper bag to the tube.
