• Ice cube tray (or candy-making tray)
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Water in a jug
  • Aluminum foil
  • Watercolor paints (or any other type of kids paint)
  • 1 large piece of card stock or construction paper
  • White paper towels
  • 1 cotton ball
  • All-purpose white glue
  • Tape
  1. Add a little bit of paint to the bottom of an ice cube tray and then fill each cube with water and mix well.
  2. Repeat with lots of colors.
  3. Cover tray with aluminum foil and carefully push craft sticks into each cube.
  4. Place in freezer and leave overnight to freeze.
  5. In the meantime, make a picture of an ice cream cone using paper towels. Fold one piece of paper towel into a cone shape. Glue onto the piece of cardstock or construction paper.
  6. Tear 3 other pieces of paper towel to make layers of ice cream. Glue each of them onto the paper.
  7. Glue on a cotton ball as the cherry on top.
  8. When your ice paints have frozen, remove the aluminum foil and pop out the ice cubes onto plates.
  9. When the ice paints start to melt, you can start painting with them, using the sticks as handles.
  10. Paint over the paper towels and watch them absorb the color. You can even try mixing colors together to see what other colors you can make.
